School Profile
The Primary School of Agios Georgios is one of the oldest primary schools in Larnaca, built in the early 1950s. It is located on a central road artery of the city. This school year, it operates with a student population of 103 children, divided into six classes. Students with a migrant background make up a significant percentage of the school population—approximately 29%—and come from various countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Romania, Armenia, Georgia, United Kingdom, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine).
The socioeconomic level of the children, as well as the educational background of their parents, is considered moderate. Free meals are provided to 25 children. Our school participates in the European co‑funded programme DRA.S.E.+, which helps mitigate the negative effects of the economic crisis and the pandemic on education and students, supports learners with a migrant background, and improves learning outcomes.
The school building is old and is being gradually upgraded. Despite the small number of students, it includes a Music Room, Library, Special Education Room, Art Room, and Design & Technology Room. Efforts are being made to create a Computer Lab.
During the summer months, the school operates as a summer school, attended by approximately 150 kindergarten and primary school children. Afternoon DRASE lessons are offered to our students, AGΟ programmes are implemented, and afternoon–evening educational courses are also provided for adults.
Cooperation with Institutions Our school maintains excellent cooperation with all relevant bodies: the Larnaca–Famagusta District Education Office, the Ministry of Education, the School Board, the Municipality of Larnaca, and the Parents’ Association.
